Innovation and Celebration during the pandemic for our candidates and clients
At Training Matters, our candidates and employers are at the heart of everything we do and when lockdown began and businesses and individuals went into survival mode it was key for us to ensure we focused on continuing to support our candidates throughout this huge unknown! With the go ahead to work with candidates on furlough we were full steam ahead!
Our first focus was on the wellbeing of our candidates and we ran a webinar session with each group of our candidates taking them away from the actual qualification they were doing to ensure they were focusing on the essential things at that time, them! We spent a couple of weeks on different topics and then re-grouped everyone and started to work through the knowledge and understanding elements of the more practical qualifications and for our businesses who were working 'as normal' such as those classed as key workers we supported them, from a distance, to ensure they were still able to complete units and work towards achieving their qualifications.
To date we have been very lucky to have had nearly 20 candidates complete their qualifications since lockdown began and have had well over 40 new starts sign up with us. We have also diversified our offering and have began to start offering short courses along with being accredited to provide ITA funding.
A big highlight for us at Training Matters was to be able to graduate 14 hospitality apprentices from the Apprenticeship in Hospitality Scotland Programme which we coordinate and celebrate with them via an online Graduation Ceremony. We were joined by the hotel partners, members of industry bodies, and Mr Jamie Hepburn MSP Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills. During this time, in the Covid19 Pandemic where hospitality has been hit hard it was crucial for us to ensure that our apprentices were able to be awarded for their hard work and recognised for their achievements during their 18 months as apprentices. We are now looking forward to working with some of them as they head onto their management and supervisory qualification in the near future! Well done to each and every one of them.
The pandemic has taught us all what's important and our key message remains;
Training Matters provide quality training, focussing on the development of the individual. By enabling them to achieve their own potential, we help companies, in turn, meet their objectives.
Training Matters are an accredited centre for SQA and ILM qualifications, covering Management, Procurement, Hospitality, Learning & Development and Digital Marketing.
